There Is One Person You Tell The Truth To

Somebody asked her how she was on Thursday and she said the true answer, and it did not occur to her until Friday that this was unusual.

Not the whole true answer. She is not a person who unloads and she is never going to be. But her friend asked, properly, in the way that means it, and instead of the standard reply she said a real sentence about how the thing actually is at the moment.

And then they talked about something else and had cake.

Two years ago there was no one. That is not an exaggeration and it is not self pity, it is a fact she could have proved. She had a whole set of answers rehearsed for exactly that question, graded by who was asking and how much time there was, and she could deliver any of them without her face doing anything.

She could not tell you when the first true one came out. There is no moment. Somewhere in the last couple of years one person moved into a position where she does not run the routine, and neither of them has ever mentioned it.

And the situation is exactly where it was. She wants that clear, because she can see what kind of article this is and she is not going to be walked toward a conclusion about her circumstances by anybody.

And a woman at church said last week, warmly: keep going, fast about it again.

She said maybe. And what she thought, on Friday, was a question she had not asked before: what has been happening that I have not been counting?

Nothing here reinterprets the situation

Let us settle that first, because you will not trust a word of the rest otherwise.

The situation is where it was. This page is not going to suggest it has secretly moved, and it is not going to imply that a more positive person would see progress in it. That is asking somebody to argue with their own life, and it is not what is going on here.

You are not being walked toward a conclusion, and your reading of it has been right the whole time. That is not a soft opening. It is written that the Lord looketh on the heart (1 Samuel 16:7), and the Holy Spirit is the one who has been present for the whole set of rehearsed answers, every one of them, and He never once thought less of you for having them ready.

There is a second place to look. Thursday happened in it.

What the verse puts the healing next to

There is a sentence in James that people quote for the second half and it is the first half that matters here.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.James 5:16

Read what is placed next to what.

The confessing is to one another. Not to a room, not to a platform, not to everybody. One to another, which is the smallest possible unit of it: a person, and a person.

And the healing in that verse is attached to the honesty rather than to the outcome anybody was praying about. That is not a promise that your situation resolves because you told somebody the truth on a Thursday. It is Scripture placing two things side by side and treating one of them as ordinary equipment for the other.

You have moved into the arrangement that verse describes, and you did it without deciding to. I am not saying it to make a Thursday sound enormous: it is what the sentence puts together and how small it keeps the unit (James 5:16), and it is His Spirit, not this page, who moves a person from nobody to one, which is a work with no moment in it that anybody could point at.

And it is not a sign about anything

Here is the thing said plainly, because this is exactly where a page like this usually spoils what it has just given.

Thursday is not a signal. It does not mean the situation is turning, it is not the first stage of a season, and it does not tell you a single thing about the year in front of you.

You are not holding a forecast, and nobody here knows what happens next. Scripture says it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power (Acts 1:7), and it is His Spirit who makes that a relief rather than a let down, because the moment a small true thing is turned into evidence it stops belonging to you and becomes a bet.

And what you went without over these years bought nothing, in either direction. It did not fail, and it did not quietly succeed on the inside instead. There was never a transaction in it.

Now the sentence this site says everywhere. Some people must not go without food at all, and being one of them takes nothing away from you. Diabetes, pregnancy, medication, any hard relationship with eating, being underweight, unwell, elderly or simply unsure: speak to your doctor and let their answer be the answer. You are not one step further from God because of what your body needs. Scripture says the Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works (Psalm 145:9), and the Holy Spirit has never once come in a smaller measure to anybody on account of a body.

And if this week has more in it than a page can carry, if you are frightened for yourself, put this down and ring somebody real: your doctor, a counselor, a crisis line, and the emergency services if you or anybody near you is in danger tonight. That is not a road around God. That is help He put in the world on purpose.
